Life from my iPhone: One Crazy Week to come…

Monday, February 7th, 2011

I have an obsession with notes and to-do lists.  When I get stressed or overwhelmed I make lists. Lists to do, lists for the future, lists to plan, lists to organize other lists, the lists go on.

This week Joe and I have a lot on our plate with editing, shooting, school, and planning WPPI (which again we are super excited).

Below is a jut an sample of my crazy notes. Normally I have about 5 pages by Monday at noon for the week, so I guess this week is a better week.

Thanksgiving holiday “life from my iPhone”

Monday, November 29th, 2010

I was so busy traveling and working last week for the holiday.  But the following two photos from my “life from my iPhone” project pretty much sum up the week and the start of this week.

I always fall into this trap in the winter where I wish for snow and then once it comes I curse when I go running or walk to work. I have a serious love-hate relationship with snow and I think it will always be that way.

This is the first snow fall of winter 2010.

So while I’m currently upset with my  friend Mr. Snow, I stay inside where it is warm with the heat and the extra space heater on and either work, clean, or bake yummy goodies which I also have a love-hate relationship during the holidays but the movie and book “Eat, Pray, Love” is helping realize feeding my soul literally and figuratively is something I should embrace more.

These are yummy oatmeal cookies I made to avoid the snow.

Where my passion started… “life from my iPhone”

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

So if you missed last week’s post, I have decided to start a personal photo project called “Life from my iPhone.”  I want to be be able to share my daily life through photos and what better way than to take photos with a camera I have with me all the time? So once a week I will post my favorite photo from my project on the blog. (If you want to see all the photos from the week follow me on tumblr or on the iPhone app, Instagram)

The photo from this week is a representation on where my passion started and a nod to my other talent.  I remember as a little girl I would look at magazines and newspapers and just stare at the photos (especially because I couldn’t read yet).  The photos told me stories and brought them to life in my eyes.  I realized that I wanted to do “that” when I grew up.  I spent years learning about photography and studying the photos out of my local newspaper in Washington and all my magazines like American Girl. I LOVE photography it is my first passion but I also can’t ignore what actually got me into loving photography.  Currently I am finishing up a degree in Journalism News Media and Design. It is my other passion but I will never leave my first love.. photography.

newspapers inspired my photography.

Calm before the storm… and “life from my iPhone”

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Yesterday as I was walking to my media management class that I’m taking to learn better about running my business and I realized that I practically missed fall. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love the clean, crisp, and mildly-cold air. I love wearing my boots and big chunky sweater. But this year I feel like I missed it because the weather where I live I feel went straight from summer to winter in the blink of an eye. Today it actually started to snow. BUT I did catch it for a brief moment yesterday. I used my new favorite  app, Instagram, and captured this photo. I love it. To me this is the essence of fall.

I’ve decided that I’m going to start documenting my everyday life. As photographers we tend to just shoot planned sessions and forget why we started to have a passion for photography.  In an attempt to regain that passion of shooting anything and everything I am going to start a personal photo project. I’m going to use iPhone and try to capture a photo at least once a week. Its my “life from my iPhone” project.
